PLAISTOW, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police in New Hampshire are searching for two suspects, a 23-year-old mother and her 27-year-old reported boyfriend, who are wanted on 11 counts of child endangerment.

According to police, Jessica Linscott brought her 3-year-old son to Exeter Hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The child had severe head trauma that has left him temporarily blind. The boy also had burns and bruises all over his body.

Linscott initially told police that the injuries were self-inflicted; however, police issued arrest warrants for Linscott and her then live-in boyrfriend, Roland Dow, on Friday.

The couple reportedly told police that they would turn themselves in on Monday, but that deadline has since come and gone.

When police interviewed Linscott's family in an effort to track them down, one of the family members reportedly told police that they believed Linscott was in danger with Dow.

The child is recovering at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Plaistow police announced during a news conference Tuesday morning that Linscott and Dow will be charged with first-degree assault. Police also said they are working to upgrade the charges.

FOX 25's Crystal Haynes spoke to one of the child's grandmothers, Helen Nicholson, who identified the boy as James Nicholson. She said the boy splits his time between her home and and his Kingston, N.H., grandmother's, Debra Mullen.

Nicholson told FOX 25 she calls Mullen every day to talk to James. She said that four weeks ago, the boy told her that Dow hit him in the head and butt. The DCYF opened up a file on the couple.

The boy's father is Jonathan Nicholson, who died of an overdose three years ago, right after James was born.

According to Nicholson, Linscott began dating Dow a year ago.

Nicholson said she believes drugs might be involved.

Nicholson said James would run and him when Linscott would pick him up at her house.

Police believe that the couple is receiving assistance evading the police. The couple's last known address is on Main Street in Plaistow.
