NH native killed in murder-suicide in North Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The family of young New Hampshire native is mourning after she was killed in a murder-suicide in North Carolina.

Justin Hakeem Walker, 26, is believed to have murdered his estranged girlfriend, 23-year-old Rebecca Jones Monday, said officials.

"She wanted to be married, kids, she just wanted that perfect life,” Rasheena Hill, a coworker in North Carolina, said.

The sheriff's office said Walker, a U.S. Marine Corp Reserve sergeant, then drove to an indoor shooting range and shot himself. Near his body, deputies found a note saying they would find his girlfriend dead in his apartment.

Jones’ Facebook page describes her as a graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey. Authorities said it doesn’t appear Jones was shot, but autopsy results have not yet been released.

An online wedding registry indicates that the couple intended to marry in April 2017 and had been dating since 2011, NH1 reports.

"Her kind, loving soul made her the type of person you could only wish to have in your life. She has been taken from us way too soon in a senseless manner which none of us can comprehend," a family statement to FOX25 said.

Jones's family has set up a GoFundMe page for help with funeral costs and getting all her belongings back to New Hampshire. Donations can also be mailed or dropped off at any TD Bank Branch under the name Paul "Bubsy" Jones.
