MANCHESTER, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A New Hampshire man spent $2,600 at a carnival while trying to win his children a prize on a $5 game Saturday afternoon in Manchester.
Henry Gribohm, of Epsom, told the Union Leader he came close to winning a prize, but fell short. That's when he said two guys at Kids Carnival at the JFK Coliseum on Beech Street began enticing him with the promise of doubling his money back on the Tubs of Fun game.
"They said they would double my money if I could get 10 balls in the bucket," Gribohm told the newspaper. "I was loud and into it, and they said I was helping to draw a crowd over to the booth. They said I would win my kids an X-Box Kinect, which are like $400 I think. So I gave it a try."
But before long, Gribohm had already racked up $2,600 in charges. Gribohm told the Union Leader he returned to the carnival Sunday to complain to management. A manager gave him $600 and an oversized, dread-locked stuffed banana for his troubles.
Gribohm has filed a report with Manchester police.
