NH man arrested in connection with Penacook armed robberies

CONCORD, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police have arrested a 32-year-old New Hampshire man accused of robbing two businesses in Penacook at gunpoint.

Benjamin Hugron, of Concord, N.H., was arrested Monday at about 1:30 p.m. by detectives from the Concord Police Dept.

According to police, Hugron robbed the Asian Taste restaurant at gunpoint at about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 8. Hugron is also accused of robbing the Sam's Food Store, also located in Penacook, at gunpoint at about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 15.

During both robberies, Hugron allegedly entered the business, displayed the weapon, demanded cash, and then fled on foot. In the food store robbery, Hugron also requested cigarettes, police said.

On Aug. 17, police received an anonymous tip from a caller who identified Hugron as a possible suspect in the robberies. Detectives learned Hugron had an active warrant for his arrest issued by the U.S. Department of Probation and Parole on Aug. 6, only two days prior to the first reported robbery.

Police issued a warrant for Hugron's arrest for two counts of armed robbery.

Hugron was taken into custody in the area of Pavillion Drive in Penacook Monday. Detectives went to the suspect's home and recovered several pieces of evidence and established probable cause to arrest Hugron for both robberies.

Hugron was served with both warrants Monday, and he will be arraigned Tuesday.

An investigation is ongoing.
