• NFL says ‘no’ to backpacks, handbags at games

FOXBORO, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The NFL is limiting the size of bags allowed at football venues this season, including Gillette Stadium.

The new policy bars fans from bringing purses bigger than a 4.5" by 6.5" clutch bag, as well as coolers, briefcases, backpacks, diaper bags, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage, computer bags and camera bags.

Each person is allowed to bring a clear, one-gallon freezer bag or a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag that is no larger than 12" x 6" x 12".

Fans are also allowed to bring binoculars, cameras, phones and blankets. A separate entrance will be set up for fans that need to bring bags containing medically-necessary items.

The MBTA has asked fans that take "Football Trains" to Patriots' games to leave all bags and backpacks at home.

The bag policy will be in effect beginning with the Patriots' pre-season game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday.
