BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) New video has surfaced of Rodney Stanger, the prime suspect in the murder of Molly Bish.
Molly Bish was last seen at Comins Pond in Warren in June 2000. Stanger abruptly moved to Florida in the fall of 2000, shortly after the first sketch of the suspect in the murder was released to the public. Stanger bears a strong resemblance to the sketch.
FOX 25's Bob Ward has spoken to people who fished with Stanger at Comins Pond and who hunted with him in the Palmer woods where Bish's body was found. Stanger has denied ever going to either place.
Stanger is currently serving time for stabbing to death and nearly decapitating his longtime girlfriend, Chrystal Morrison inside their trailer in Summerfield, Fla. on February 25, 2008. He was found naked inside a neighbor's home before being arrested and brought to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
Once at the sheriff's office, Stanger complained that he was cold and thirsty. A detective gave him a blanket and water. When it was time to talk, Stanger asked for a lawyer, only saying he had no idea why he was in trouble.
Police released a video of Stanger just hours after he murdered Morrison this week.
At one point in the video, Stanger is asked why he moved to Florida. He tells the detective that people were trying to kill him and he talks about murders back in Massachusetts, murders that made the local newspaper.
Sources tell FOX 25's Bob Ward that Stanger is very much at the top of the list and that they cannot rule him out as a suspect in the Molly Bish murder. Mass. State Police recently spent several hours talking to Stanger behind bars in Florida. They are still going over that interview. Evidence recovered from Stanger's trailer has been sent out for DNA analysis.
