New polls show Brown, Warren in a virtual dead heat

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – It's going to be a fight to the finish for our local Senate candidates. One of the nation's most expensive races could be decided by a couple of votes.

Two new polls show Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren in a virtual dead heat. Remember the 2010 Senate race? Polls had Martha Coakley up to 30 points ahead of Scott Brown, but then he surged forward in a huge upset in the final days.

This time, it's very different. Polls have shown Senator Brown leading then challenger Elizabeth Warren, then Brown again. And with one day left, it's still the same back and forth.

A poll from UMass Lowell and the Boston Herald have Brown with a 1 percent lead over Warren. A second poll, though, by the Western New England University Polling Institute and the Springfield Republican newspaper shows Warren leading Brown by four points. Either way, it's a tight race all the way through the finish.

Both Brown and Warren spent the weekend trying to earn some last-minute votes.

The election could determine whether the Senate is controlled by Democrats or Republicans.

Both candidates have big final election rallies Monday night.
