New poll shows that marijuana could become legal in Massachusetts

BOSTON — It looks like recreational marijuana will become legal in Massachusetts, according to a new poll.

A new Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll shows a 7 point advantage for "yes" on question 4. However, three out of five poll responders said legalization wouldn't change their usage.

The poll covered all four questions on the November ballot in Massachusetts.

For Question 2, which would allow for the expansion of charter schools, respondents in favor and opposed were tied at 45.4 percent, with 9 percent undecided.

On Question 1, which would add a single slot machine establishment in the commonwealth, 57 percent were opposed while 30 percent were in favor.

It also looks likely that Question 3 will pass, which prohibits the sale of meat and eggs for farm animals that are "excessively confined." Of those polled, 62 percent were in favor to 25 percent opposed.
