NEW BEDFORD (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A New Bedford man has been arraigned in the beating death of a 9-month-old girl.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Ethen Harrison admitted to dropping, throwing, and slapping the child, who is identified as Ariel Eluziario.
Ariel was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford around 6 p.m. Thursday with injuries to her brain and bruises on her body. She was flown to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I. where she succumbed to her injuries.
Harrison is facing charges of reckless endangerment of a child, assault and battery on a child causing substantial bodily injury, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Harrison lives at an apartment on Adams Street with the child's mother, according to the district attorney's office. He is not her biological father.
The 23-year-old's bail has been revoked on three open cases, including one involving a restraining order filed by his father.
Court paperwork shows Harrison's father previously filed a restraining order against him for reportedly making a threat to harm him. Harrison is accused of violating that order.
