NEW BEDFORD (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A man who was reportedly kidnapped from his New Bedford home was found in Connecticut on Thursday night.
Police tell the Standard-Times that John Sylvia had his hands bound with zip ties and he was left on the side of the road in East Hartford. Sylvia reportedly walked to a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store.
Sylvia's girlfriend told investigators the 29-year-old was sitting on his couch in Welby Park Estates on Thursday morning when two men wearing shirts that said "police" on them walked in with what appeared to be police badges.
She claims the men handcuffed Sylvia and then drove off with him in a white U-Haul.
Sylvia is reportedly on probation for drug charges and was wearing an ankle bracelet that did not have GPS.
Police believe the van used in the incident was a white 2012 Ford E250 with Arizona license plate AE50765. It has been reported stolen.
