Needham man accused of grabbing Rays mascot by neck at game

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Needham man was arrested after police say he grabbed Tampa Bay Rays mascot, Raymond, at Tuesday's Red Sox-Rays game in St. Petersburg, Fla.

According to the police report, 27-year-old Trevor Martin twice reached over the railing and grabbed Raymond around the neck and pulled him back toward the railing. Witnesses said Raymond had to push Martin off him to break free.

Police said the person inside the mascot suit chose not to press charges for battery, but the police report states Martin was charged with disorderly intoxication in a public place.

Police say Martin admitted to drinking two beers during the game.

The Sox won the game 2-0.
