Nearly 7,000 people participate in Cambridge Walk to End Alzheimer's

Thousands of people were united in movement in Cambridge Sunday in honor of their loved ones.

Participants in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s say they are reclaiming the future for millions suffering with this disease.

"We come here every year since she passed from this horrible disease. So as a family we come here to honor her and keep her memory alive,” Maria Oliveira said.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's Association care, support and research programs.

"So many people from so many different neighborhoods and areas from Boston and New England are here today walking,” Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said.

Nearly 7,000 people participated in the walk Sunday. Last year the event raised more than $3.7 million locally.
