Nantucket selectmen clear way for island's second pot dispensary

NANTUCKET, Mass. — The Nantucket Board of Selectmen has cleared the way for a second medical marijuana dispensary on the island, but the company still has a few steps before it’s a done deal.

The Summer residents from New York behind The Green Lady are aiming to open the dispensary just between the harbor and the airport.

The board of selectmen voted on November 8 to allow the Green Lady to seek approvals from the department of public health and town planning board for its store front.

"Based on the conversations and discussions that have come up in the last few weeks in regard to (support for) recreational marijuana, I feel comfortable issuing a letter of support," board member Rita Higgins told the Cape Cod Times.

According to the report from the Cape Cod Times, an attorney representing The Green Lady said at the board’s meeting that island residents want more access to marijuana both for medicinal and recreational purposes.
