MyFoxBoston.com Yearbook: Rob Gronkowski, New England's athlete of the year

For Patriots fans, 2012 was the year of the Gronk spike.

Rob Gronkowski was named New England's athlete of the year in a MyFoxBoston.com poll. He beat out the likes of Zdeno Chara, Tom Brady, Paul Pierce, and Aly Raisman.

Gronkowski is widely regarded as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. The 23-year-old has suffered two major injuries in 2012, with the most recent being a broken forearm, but will likely be one of Tom Brady's biggest weapons during the playoffs.

Aside from his on field achievements, Gronkowski's fun-loving attitude landed him a spot on the dating show "The Choice," the front cover of ESPN'S body issue, and a popular Dunkin' Donuts sponsorship.
