Mother's Day events in Massachusetts

Let's hear it for mothers! With all that they do, moms certainly deserve a day of fun-filled family activities. Below are just a few ideas of events and deals available this upcoming Mother's Day.

Lilac Sunday, Arnold Arboretum

This beloved Boston celebration coincides with Mother's Day, and is the only day of the year that picnicking is allowed at the Arboretum. So pack a picnic basket, and enjoy eating amongst over 250 varieties of lilac blooms. Tours to view the different types of lilacs leave every hour, and are free to the public.

Duckling Day Parade

Make way for some of Boston's cutest ducklings! Starting at noon, the Harvard University Marching Band will lead parents and children clad in their feathers to a reading of ‘Make Way for Ducklings' in the Public Garden. Before the parade there will be face painting, balloon artists and a magician. Tickets are $35 per family in advance and $40 per family the day of the event. Advance tickets are available at select retailers in Beacon Hill. Each family who registers will receive a special goodie bag filled with Duckling Day toys and treats.

SOWA Market Reopens

Is your mom a fan of vintage pieces? Does she enjoy thrifting? If so, head on over to the South End to shop through the SOWA market. Franklin Park Zoo

Even monkeys have moms! Head to the Franklin Park Zoo this Mother's Day and celebrate your mom, as well as the moms of the animal kingdom. Mothers get free admission all day!
