REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Mohegan Sun submitted its final application to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission Tuesday, proposing to build a resort-style casino on the Revere side of Suffolk Downs.
Building the casino would be a $1.3 billion project, according to a joint statement released by Mohegan Sun and Suffolk Downs. Construction would take two-and-a-half years, developed on 42 acres.
The casino property would include retail stores, 500 hotel rooms, and casino space that would hold 4,000 slot machines, 100 tables for games like blackjack and roulette, and 20 poker tables, according to the statement.
The casino operator and Mayor Dan Rizzo reached a deal on Dec. 23, which paves the way for a public referendum and town vote on the casino in the future.
An earlier proposal for a development on the Boston-Revere border was rejected by voters in East Boston.
The Gaming Commission announced Tuesday that it had received all three final applications for casinos in the eastern and western parts of Massachusetts. In addition to Mohegan Sun, MGM submitted an application for Springfield and the Wynn Resorts for Everett.
