REVERE, Mass. (AP/MyFoxBoston.com) -- A host agreement has been reached for a resort-style casino between Mohegan Sun and the city of Revere, someone a familiar with the confirmed to Fox 25.
The casino operator and Mayor Dan Rizzo have reached a deal, which will allow a public referendum and town vote on the casino in the future.
State gambling regulators cleared the way last week for a vote on a Revere-only casino plan by waiving a requirement that Mohegan Sun have a referendum and submit results by Dec. 31.
An earlier proposal for a development on the Boston-Revere border was rejected by voters in East Boston.
Mohegan Sun now wants to build a casino entirely on Suffolk Downs property in Revere.
