Missing swimmer's body recovered from Walden Pond

CONCORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The body of a missing swimmer was recovered from Walden Pond Tuesday.

Investigators found the body in approximately 20 feet of water nearly 75 yards away from shore on the southern side of the pond.

While the body has not been officially identified, Mass. State Police say the body's appearance is consistent with that of a missing 63-year-old Lincoln man last seen Sunday evening.

Authorities said the man was swimming with his wife and another woman when the two women decided to try to swim across the pond. It was unclear if the man was trying to swim across as well.

He was reported missing at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Mass. State Police assisted officials from Concord and Lincoln in searching for the man Sunday and Monday.

The search was scheduled resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The body was found just after 11:45 a.m.
