Missing dog from Worcester found one year later in Fla.

WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A dog owner's year-long search for her missing pooch had a happy ending this week after the 8-year-old chihuahua turned up in Florida.

The Worcester Telegram reports Amanda Ahadov received a call last month from the Orange County Animal Services in Orlando reporting her dog, Bonbon, had been found over 1,000 miles away.

Bonbon disappeared in July 2012 after Ahadov and her husband tied the dog up outside a friend's home in Worcester. When they went outside moments later, the dog was missing. They used nearly every resource possible to find the dog, which was microchipped, to no avail.

The Florida-based animal service told Ahadov Bonbon had come to them from a Worcester resident who turned the pooch over after no longer being able to care for it. They then found the microchip and contacted Ahadov.

"A true testament to the power of microchips. If you haven't already, please consider having your pet(s) chipped," said officials with the Orange County Animal Services via Facebook.
