In an interview Thursday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Cyrus, who was wearing her engagement ring, said that she occasionally takes the ring off because it doesn't match her other jewelry. She suggested the ring removal as a reason why tabloids have speculated that she and Hemsworth have had troubles in the last few months.

"This is really weird because this is, like, real jewelry, and most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy, and they don't look that good together 'cause they kind of mix up," she said. "So sometimes I like replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune. And (Hemsworth) is kind of like, 'What's going on?' 'Well,' I am like, 'This isn't really my aesthetic, but I'll wear it because you love me.'"

Cyrus also said that although the couple is strong, she doesn't know if she wants to legally marry.

"I actually really don't talk about it that much, but I think that something that people should understand is young people in general, what we wear and what a relationship and a commitment means, is very different to what tabloids like to make it mean," she said. "I think young people have a different idea of partnering and not feeling that this necessarily means this is going to have a legal document ... because it's really sharing a life with someone and not about a legal paper that tells me anything even though I fought so hard for LGBTQ rights to be able to get married, but I don't even really want to."

Hemsworth proposed to Cyrus in 2012, but the pair temporarily split in 2013. Rumors that their engagement was back on surfaced in January.

According to E! News, the 26-year-old Australian actor and the 23-year-old singer started dating in 2009.

Us Weekly reported that plans of when and where a wedding will take place are "up in the air."
