Mild weekend to be followed by possible storm

A cold front will pass through our area on Friday night. A brief flurry or spot shower is possible. Not looking at much in the way of precipitation. After midnight, clouds will break apart and we may start the weekend off with some sunshine.

Saturday will start off chilly, with morning readings in the 20s. We'll watch another storm impact the Mid-Atlantic states. The associated snow and rain with that system will stay south of southern New England, but the northern edge of the cloud cover will filter our morning sunshine quickly. It will be mostly cloudy by the afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.

As that storm to our south pulls away, it will drag the cloud cover with it. So expect clearing skies Saturday night with temps in the 20s.

Sunday will be the nicer day of the weekend! Expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures near 40. A northwest breeze will add a chill to the air, so if you have plans to head to a St. Patrick's Day parade dress for temps in the 30s.

The next "high impact" event is timed for Monday night into Tuesday. At this time it looks like some overnight snow Monday night, mostly heavy rain Tuesday mixing with snow at elevations, then snow Tuesday night. The Tuesday morning commute will likely be slow going no matter the type of precipitation. If the storm turns cooler, significant snow may develop in Boston. It's still very early to assign numbers to potential accumulation, but parts of interior New England may see plowable conditions. Please follow this portion of the forecast closely. Strong winds will also develop between late Monday and at least early Wednesday.
