Middlesex DA weighing run for Senate

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone is weighing a run in the special election.

Leone confirmed to FOX 25's Sharman Sacchetti that he is giving some thought to entering the Democratic race for U.S. Senate. He tells Sacchetti that his intention is still to leave public service, but he has a lot of people encouraging him to run. He says now that Scott Brown is
out, he's giving the race some thought.

Word of the district attorney's potential run comes one day after Brown announced he wouldn't run and less than one month after Leone announced he would not seek re-election in 2014.

Currently, only Rep.  Stephen Lynch and Rep. Ed Markey have formally announced plans to run. However, former State Senate Minority Leader Richard Tisei announced on Friday that he is also considering running in the special election.
