Methuen teen held as a dangerous person

LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - An 18-year-old Methuen High School student charged with making online threats that included outdoing the Boston Marathon bombers has been ordered held without bail for 90 days.

A judge in Lawrence District Court ruled Thursday that Cameron D'Ambrosio posed a threat to the community, not only for the Facebook comments he allegedly made last month, but for a pattern of threatening violence, including a recent threat to stab his sister.

D'Ambrosio has been held in jail since his arrest May 1 on a charge of communicating a terrorist threat.

The teen's lawyer argued in court that the allegations against his client do not meet the state's requirements for being held as a dangerous person, because police found no explosives, weapons or other writing about violence when they searched his home.
