MEMA issues impact statement ahead of mid-week storm

BOSTON — There will be another storm forming to our south this week, according to the Boston 25 Stormtracker Weather Team.

The precise track, however, was still uncertain as of this writing Monday morning. As of Monday morning, model tracks were still far apart in their solutions for where this storm will go.

We won't see the storm forming until Tuesday night off the coast of the Carolinas and our team is carefully monitoring the evolving forecast, we'll keep you up to date with the latest information as it becomes available.

But the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency has started preparing the possibility of plowable snow and other impacts across the region Wednesday into Thursday.

The agency issued a warning Monday about possible impacts, which include:

  • Accumulating snow, enough to plow with a low risk for a period of 1-3" per hours snowfall rates.
  • Impacts to both commutes on Wednesday (especially the afternoon commute) and Thursday morning.
  • Strong northeast winds, likely requiring a wind advisory across SE MA  (up to 45-55 mph).
  • Some coastal flood issues, especially along the eastern MA coastline, around the early Thursday AM high tide.
  • Gales for mariners; a Gale Watch has been issued.  There is a low risk for Storm Warnings.
