Meeting this week on teacher child porn charges

NEWTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Concerned parents in Newton are hoping to get some answers at an upcoming meeting following the arrest of a teacher and coach on child porn charges.

F.A. Day Middle School math teacher Stephen Chan hid his face in court last week after pleading not guilty to several child porn charges.

Newton Superintendent David Fleishman sent out a letter to parents, saying a community meeting will be held at the middle school at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

State police allegedly found thousands of child porn images in his home. Chan is suspended from teaching and from his coaching job for the boys' gymnastics team at Newton North High School.

If convicted, Chan could face a minimum of a decade behind bars.
