MBTA station evacuated due to fire in electrical room

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Tufts Medical Center MBTA Station was evacuated Friday morning due to a fire in an electrical room.

Boston fire crews responded to the scene on Washington Street just after 10 a.m. They said a fire broke out in a high voltage electrical room located just past the Orange Line platform on the northbound side of the tracks.

The fire was extinguished by 11:30 a.m. Crews brought in smoke ejectors to try to clear the station of trapped smoke.

The station was closed and evacuated for a period of time due to smoke. There were no injuries reported.
