MBTA police arrest suspect accused of harassing child, assaulting 2 people

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- MBTA police arrested a man Thursday accused of harassing a young child and assaulting two people who tried to help.

The incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. Monday on an inbound Red Line train. Transit police say the suspect was harassing passengers, including a 3 or 4-year-old girl.

A male passenger intervened, and when the train pulled into the Park Street Station, the suspect assaulted that good samaritan. An MBTA officer who saw this all happening rushed over to help and he, too, was assaulted by the suspect.

Calvin White, 40, of Boston was arrested Thursday on charges of assault and battery (two counts) and disorderly conduct.
