MBTA may use glass cages to protect bus drivers

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – With attacks on MBTA bus drivers on the rise, the MBTA's general manager says she plans to install glass partitions around drivers to keep them safe.
Beverly Scott told the Boston Herald it will be a pilot program.

This year, there have been 37 assaults or threats against MBTA employees. Many of the incidents involved fare disputes between bus drivers and riders.
Glass cages have also been tested on public buses in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
