7,000 turkeys killed in Lancaster farm fire

LANCASTER, Mass. — Thousands of turkeys were killed Thursday when a fire destroyed the farm where they were being bred.

Multiple fire departments responded to Bob’s Turkey Farm for the fire Thursday afternoon.

Bob Van Hoof started the farm in 1954 and built the barn that was destroyed in 1957. He said by the time they were able to call 911 the barn was engulfed.

"It's really too bad. Most of the Thanksgiving turkeys are dead," he said.

At this time it is unclear how the fire will impact the farm’s Thanksgiving business. On Facebook the owners called this a "massive loss."
