Mass. Medical Society releases 'cannabis curriculum'

Monday marks the start of a crucial week for the state's Cannabis Control Commission.

The commission is hosting a week-long series of meetings to develop marijuana regulations.

On Monday, they discussed potential limits of production for retailers, the licensing process, as well as background check requirements.

The commission has to submit a first draft of their regulations by the end of the year. Final rules are due by March, with sales scheduled to start in July.

Meanwhile, the Massachusetts Medical Society has released a 'Cannabis Curriculum;' a set of guidelines for doctors and other providers to use when prescribing medial marijuana to patients.

The society makes it clear the guidelines are not an endorsement. In fact, they were against legalization.
