Mass. man's marathon dream fulfilled

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – The New York City marathon scheduled for Nov. 4, 2011, in Staten Island was canceled following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, and John Young was one of the displaced runners.

Young, a Salem, Mass., resident, made his way to New York only to hear the news.  Now, instead of New York, he will fulfill his marathon dreams in Plymouth at the Myles Standish Marathon.

FOX 25 caught up with Young, a high school math teacher and swim coach at Pingree School in South Hamilton, just before the big day. Young also competes in triathlons as a member of both Achilles International and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
