Mass. man facing multiple child rape charges captured in Nevada

RENO, Nevada — A man on Massachusetts' most wanted list was captured in Reno, Nevada on Sunday, said state police.

Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and Cyber Crime Unit, along with Marlboro Police, have been actively searching for Daniel Escalante, 42, wanted for committing sexual assaults against multiple children in Marlboro, said police. He's been on the most wanted list since late March.

Police learned recently that Escalante had allegedly fled Massachusetts and was living in Nevada under a fake name. On Sunday, Reno Police arrested Escalante without incident.

Escalante is currently being held in Nevada on a fugitive from justice charge. Massachusetts prosecutors will work with Nevada authorities to arrange his extradition, said state police.

Escalante is facing five counts of rape of a child with force, two counts of assault with intent to rape a child and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
