Mass. man arrested on drug charges after NH crash

PELHAM, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Massachusetts man was arrested in New Hampshire Sunday morning after police say their response to a car crash found drugs inside.

The one-car crash happened on Marsh Road. Police say 21-year-old Zachary Randlett, of Dracut, Mass. was traveling north on the road when he fell asleep and crashed head-on into a telephone pole. His 2005 Subaru Legacy was leaking fluids into the road and had heavy front end damage, and the pole was snapped at the base.

But before officers arrived, police say Randlett attempted to get rid of a duffle bag with marijuana inside. After being treated for minor bruising to his right arm, police arrested Randlett and charged him with transportation of drugs, possession of marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute. Police did not say exactly how much marijuana was inside the duffle bag.

Police closed Marsh Road for multiple hours while crews replaced the telephone pole near Noella Avenue. Randlett was released on $5,000 bail and will be arraigned in a New Hampshire court on June 16.
