Police searching for suspects after shooting, crash shut down Mass. Ave.

The Boston Police Department has shut down Mass. Ave. at Huntington Ave. after a shooting that ended with at least two people taken to the hospital

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said the preliminary investigation indicates two vehicles were driving down Mass. Ave. ramming each other when shots were fired from a dark SUV into a white sedan.

“We try our hardest to prevent this stuff, but unfortunately when people have a turf war run into each other, it can happen anywhere. that's why it took place up here,” Evans said.

The driver of the sedan was hit in the head by at least one bullet and crashed into several nearby parked cars.

“We pulled that door open to help the gentleman because the door was stuck. I ran into the white car, put the car in park, was shaking the gentleman but he wasn't awake,” one witness said.

Evans said it's unclear how many people were in the dark sedan, but that vehicle is still being sought by police.

This is believed to be gang-related, Evans said, and he expects that the suspects in the dark SUV are known to police.
