Masked teens shot, killed by homeowner's son during robbery

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Authorities in Oklahoma say three teenage would-be burglars were fatally shot by a homeowner's adult son who was armed with a rifle.

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office received a call around 12:30 p.m. Monday from someone inside a home who told dispatchers that people had broken into the house and that shots had been fired.

Deputy Nick Mahoney says officers arrived to find three men fatally shot.

Two of the suspects were dead in the kitchen, and the third was found on the driveway, according to CNN.

Mahoney says the teens were wearing black clothes, gloves and masks when they forced their way in through a back door.

Mahoney told CNN that two of the suspects appeared to be 16 or 17, and the third was 18.

He said there's no reason to believe the son knew the intruders and that investigators are treating the case as a home invasion and an act of self-defense.

Their identities have not yet been released.

The neighborhood is in an unincorporated part of the county about 20 miles southeast of Tulsa.
