Marshfield teen accused of making murder threats on Instagram

MARSHFIELD, Mass. -- A teenager is under arrest in Marshfield after police say he made social media threats against the schools and the town.

Wednesday night, parents called police and told them about the disturbing post on Instagram made by the former Marshfield High School student that included threats.

In the post, police said 19-year-old Andrew Lomuscio said he wanted to burn down the town and take out every Marshfield Ram with a gun. The ram is the town’s school mascot used by sports teams and supporters.

Police reacted immediately and caught up with Lomuscio on his drive home. He was taken to a mental health facility and charged with threatening to commit a crime to murder and two other charges.

“Extremely disturbing. We’ve had some history with him involving other troubling behavior. We immediately him out and located him and taken against his will and taken to a hospital,” Marshfield Police Chief Phillip Tavares said.

Lomuscio, whose turned 19 Thursday, is being held without bail until a dangerousness hearing. The Marshfield superintendent has also requested Lomuscio be kept off school property.

"I have issued a no-trespass order to the young adult who issued the threatening comments.  In that order, he is prohibited from entering in or upon any of our seven schools or the district administrative building.  This extends to all adjoining fields and school properties.  In addition, he is prohibited from attending any athletic and/or extracurricular events that involve the Marshfield Public Schools."
