Marathon responders appear alongside Ortiz on SI cover

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- World Series MVP David Ortiz appears alongside three of Boston's finest on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

The magazine, which hits newsstands Wednesday, includes Officer Javier Pagan, Officer Rachel McGuire, and Detective Kevin McGill. All three members of the Boston Police Department are donning smiles, a stark contrast to the expressions they wore on the same magazine's cover in April. Pagan, McGuire, and McGill all appeared on the April 22 cover, which showed them rushing to help victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

According to InsideSportsIllustrated.com, senior writer Tom Verducci tells the story of a man with an "outsized capacity for resilience" who led both the Red Sox and Bostonians through a terrible time.

"Among baseball's 109 world champions there has never been a story of resilience quite like this one," reads the article in-part.
