Marathon group established in honor of Martin Richard announces team members

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The charitable foundation established in honor of the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombings announced their inaugural running team for the 2014 Boston Marathon Thursday.

Martin W. Richard Charitable Foundation organizers said they have given out all of the charity bibs provided to them by the Boston Athletic Association. They are still accepting applications from runners who are already registered to run, but still wish to support the foundation.

The foundation says they received applications to join "Team MR8" from 35 states, as well as Europe, Asia, and South America. Of the 72 people on the team, 50 come from Massachusetts, with 14 coming from Martin's Dorchester neighborhood.

The mission of the foundation is to "honor Martin's message of, 'No more hurting people - peace' by investing in education, athletics, and community."
