Mansfield Police do special send off for boy's Make-A-Wish trip

MANSFIELD, Mass. — A young boy learned that his wish was coming true Sunday in a way he will never forget.

Lights flashing and sirens blaring, Mansfield Fire and Police arrived at Gabe's home Sunday to tell him that his Make-A-Wish trip had been granted.

Gabe and his family were having a party at they're home at the time, and Gabe walked out in shock as several dozen officers and firefighters pulled up outside his home. With Make-A-Wish volunteers, they presented Gabe with the good news - he was going to Hawaii, as part of his wish.

Gabe shook at the officers' hands, and then sat in a cruiser and fire engine. His mother, Donatella Maria, posted on Facebook that Gabe felt like royalty.

"A proper send off -- thank you from the depths of my soul for making my son Gabe feel like ROYALTY," she said.

Make-A-Wish grants wishes for kids battling illnesses and diseases.

Donatella Maria said the family is leaving this week for their trip.
