Burned body found along Attleboro road; investigation underway

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — An investigation is underway in Attleboro after officials said a burned body was found in a wooded area along a road early Tuesday morning.

Neighbors told Boston 25 News that they called 911 early Tuesday morning to report a brush fire. Then, an Attleboro police officer discovered the burned body, dumped along Prescott Street around 3 a.m.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said the Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene and has since taken custody of the body.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

“This is a very active investigation by the Attleboro Police Department, Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.

No other information was immediately available.
