MANCHESTER, NH — A Manchester man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly assaulting an infant.
Police said they responded to Anthony Yarbrough's home on May 16 after a call involving an infant an injury. Police said the infant's head injury was suspicious and he was taken to Elliot Hospital and then transferred to Children's Hospital at Dartmouth for further care.

Court documents said that Yarbrough, the baby's father, was home alone giving the baby a bath. While he was drying the child off, he allegedly dropped the baby. He then proceeded to panic and started shaking the baby, said the documents.
He told officers that while he was in prison, he met people there convicted of child abuse and knew how fragile infants are.
DCYF had previously offered to have Yarbrough go through anger management issue related to his bipolar diagnosis, but he declined.

The child is currently in the care of family members while recovering from his injuries. Doctors said his injuries were consistent with being shaken.
