Man wanted by police after search that started in Beverly arrested

BEVERLY, Mass. — The man accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend in Beverly has been arrested after a day-long police search.

According to court documents, the victim went to the Beverly Police Department this week after being threatened by Charles Dixon.

He was arraigned in Roxbury District Court Friday on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspsended license and has been transferred to Essex County to answer other charges.

"He was telling me he was going to send someone to my house to 'pop' me. (Have me killed) He went on to say that he wanted me and my unborn child dead," she told police.

The victim said there had been a history of domestic violence during their 10-year relationship. He's the father of her 8-year-old son and unborn child.

During her first pregnancy, the victim said Dixon punched her in the stomach, and because of that she's taking the new threats seriously.

“I am extremely fearful about what could happen to myself and my children,” she told police.

The victim filed for a restraining order and Dixon appeared in Salem District Court this week.

Records say he ran out of court and called the victim telling her "you're going to die." After that he fled.

Court documents indicate the victim fears Dixon is tied to an unsolved triple-murder case in Boston where one of the victims, Genevieve Phillip, was the mother of his child.

“Genevieve and Charles also had a domestic violence relationship and now she’s dead,” the victim told police this week.

On Wednesday, he was spotted in Beverly near where the woman was staying, leading to a door-to-door search through several neighborhoods. Beverly Hospital and a nearby nursing home were also put in temporary lockdowns as a precaution.

Dixon appeared in Court Friday and is being held without bail. He's due back in front of a judge next week.
