Man steals parking sign designated for slain journalist's memorial

ROCHESTER, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man stole parking signs designated for slain journalist James Foley's memorial scheduled Sunday.

Police placed parking signs on North Main Street for Foley's memorial service at the Holy Rosary Church. They were trying to designate the entire length of the road in front of the church to parking for attendants, officials say.

At about 2 p.m., an officer driving on North Main Street saw David Gordon begging for money near a parking lot, holding one of the parking signs. he had written, on the blank side, that he was homeless and needed money.

Gordon, 49, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. His bail was set at $1,000 and he is due in court Monday for his arraignment.
