Man shot in Mattapan on July 4th

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) - A man is battling life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Mattapan. It happened Thursday in the area of Blue Hill Avenue.
    
The victim was shot and taken to the hospital. Police aren't releasing that person's name.
    
It happened about one hour after Police Commissioner Ed Davis held a press conference about violent parties in the neighborhood. The press conference was half a mile away from the scene.
    
It's unclear what led up to the shooting, and so far, police haven't identified any suspects.
