Man shot dead in Brockton days before 40th birthday

BROCKTON, Mass. — A 39-year-old man was shot to death just days before his birthday in Brockton, according to police.

Jermaine Smith, was found dead on Sawtell Avenue in Brockton shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, Brockton police said.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police are assisting with the investigation.

Police did not immediately release any suspect information.
