Man robbed by passersby after brutal attack dies from injuries, police say

WORCESTER, Mass. — A man who was robbed by a group of people while he lay unconscious after a previous attack in Worcester last week has died, police announced Monday.

The victim, Dai Ha, of Worcester, was attacked while walking to his car on Mt. Pleasant Street around 11:15 p.m. on May 15.

The attacker took something from the Ha’s pockets before running away, according to investigators.

Then, police said, a group of people approached Ha while he was unconscious, and instead of helping him they ruffled through hit pockets to get his keys and steal items from his car.

“The guy was hit by someone, then somebody else came,” a neighbor named Tito said. “Five more guys came and Ha was taken to a hospital where he remained in critical condition until his death on Sunday.

Police arrested a man and woman who they believe were in the group who robbed him instead of calling for help.  Police are working to figure out if the group who robbed him after the initial attack knew the victim.

"That's still part of the investigation we don't know exact relationship of everyone involved," said Worcester Police.

Officers believe only one person was involved in the initial attack.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call police.
