CARVER, Mass. — State Police are investigating a two-car crash that killed a 31-year-old East Taunton man last Friday.
The crash happened around 12:35 a.m. Friday on Route 44 westbound in carver. Police said preliminary investigation shows a 23-year-old Monponsett man was driving west on Route 44 in a 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant when he hit a 1998 Saturn SL2, which was parked in the breakdown lane.
Police said it's believed the Saturn driver, 31-year-old Daniel Newcomb of Taunton, was outside his vehicle at the time of the crash. He was taken to South Shore Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
