Man found hiding in bathtub after breaking into Hyannis home, assaulting woman

HYANNIS, Mass. — Police have arrested a man who broke into a Hyannis home and assaulted a woman.

Barnstable Police were called to a group home at 22 Main Street in Hyannis just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday. A 52-year-old female victim told police she was sleeping in her third floor bedroom when a man came in and covered her mouth and nose with his hand.

She screamed and the man ran out of the room and down to the first floor, which did not have an exit.

Police searching the home and found 29-year-old Cristian Lema of Yarmouth hiding in a bathtub.

Lema was arrested and charged with armed burglary, assault on an occupant, and strangulation or suffocation.

He's set to appear in court Monday.
