TAUNTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A 34-year-old Taunton man was shot and killed by a police officer on Thursday.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office claims that David Arraiol was approached by police officers near the intersection of Wales and Mason Street at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arraiol was wanted on outstanding warrants.
They say that Arraiol walked away from police and into a driveway at 30 Wales Street. He then hid behind a vehicle and reportedly reappeared with a handgun drawn. Investigators allege that a police officer fired at Arraiol after he refused to drop the weapon.
Arraiol was rushed to Morton Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The fatal shooting remains under investigation.
