Man charged with two OUI’s in one week

CARVER, Mass. - Police in Carver say a man was charged with two OUI's in a matter of a week.

On Dec. 5 police responded to a home on Purchase Street for a domestic disturbance. When they arrived they found Kevin Smith, 51, had an outstanding arrest warrant on an OUI charge in Plymouth District Court.

After an investigation, police also charged Smith with operation under the influence and having an open container in his vehicle.

On Dec. 8, an officer said he spotted Smith driving on Main Street in Carver at about 11 a.m.

Police said the officer, knowing Smith's license had been suspended days earlier, stopped him. The officer said he found Smith to be intoxicated and arrested him on operating under the influence charge as well as having two open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.

Smith was held without bail. He will appear in Wareham District Court Monday.
